[5/3/08] Grant Application and Lodging PaymentsDear BHB Volunteers,Things are coming along great for the build and we are getting excited! We have some great news to report. Covington Habitat will be receiving a grant from Habitat International in order to cover most of our lodging costs! With this grant money, the lodging costs per person per night will be reduced from $42 to $12! In order for this to happen, we need EVERY volunteer to fill out a Grant Application form so Covington Habitat can submit it to International, whether you are using BHB Lodging or not. In order to make this easy for you, we have built in this into an Online Form that you can access just before you pay your lodging fee on the BHB Website. Lodging Fees along with Shirt and Hat orders are due by Friday, May 23rd!, one T-Shirt is included in your registration fee. Your registration fee will cover 2 nights of lodging, among other things. Therefore, the lodging fee calculation is (Number of Nights-2) x $12. Because of the grant, we had to finalize the lodging dates. Arrival and Departure dates are now set. Therefore, if you need additional lodging beyond what you entered, you will need to call the hotel directly to coordinate that. The hotel we are staying at is The Marriott Courtyard Covington [1-985-871-0244], rooms are $84 per night. At this time we ask each of you to follow the following link http://blitzhomebuilders.org/members/vol_grant1.cfm 1) You will first fill out the Grant Application 2) You will then be taken to the Online Store where you need to add your lodging payment to your cart along with any additional apparel items you wish to buy. 3) Last you will check out using PayPal and pay for your Shopping Cart. If you selected that you did not need lodging, we still need you to fill out the Grant Application. You can then also choose to buy any apparel items from the Online Store (you will not be prompted to pay a lodging fee). Remember, the deadline for lodging and store items is May 23rd! Thank you, -BHB Planning Committee [4/10/2008] Blitz Build UpdateDear 2008 BlitzBuild Volunteers,This is just an update to let you know where things stand with the 2008 Blitz Build in Covington. The dates are confirmed and we will be building three houses this year. The first build day will be Friday June 20th. The dedication will be the morning of Saturday June 28th. If you've registered as a crew leader, you are encouraged to be at the Leaders' Pre-Build Day on Thursday June 19th. Lodging will be at the Marriott Courtyard Covington at a discounted rate but we are still working on the details. As soon as we get things finalized we will email you so you can pay the lodging costs online. Please make sure that the arrival and departure date you specified during registration are accurate. This is how we will determine which nights you need lodging (if indicated) and which days you will be building. As an example: If you marked your arrival date as Monday June 21st and your departure date of Friday June 25th, you will be charged for lodging for four (4) nights. We will also assume that you will be building Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Please log in and check your arrival and departure dates now before we send out lodging invoices. Since the dates are set, please feel free to make your travel arrangements. In order to facilitate a means for volunteers to share rides, post messages, etc. with other volunteers; we have made a message board system. Please feel free to post messages to other BHB Volunteers. The BHB Message Board can be found once you log in on the Subscribers Menu, or by clicking this link and logging in http://www.blitzhomebuilders.org/members/msgBoard.cfm. This is a great way to find people to share rides or rental cars with during the build! Keep checking your email and the website, more information to follow. -BHB Planning Committee [1/23/2008] The 2008 BiltzBuild Registration is now Open!Registration for the 2008 BlitzBuild in Covington, Louisiana is now OPEN! Click HERE to register for the 2008 BlitzBuild! [12/1/2007] The 2008 BiltzBuild Site has been selected!During our annual meeting held in Portland this summer the decision was made that we would build somewhere in the Gulf coast area. After talking with several affiliates in the Gulf coast area we narrowed our selection to 3 possible build locations, Mobile AL, Thibodaux LA, and Covington LA. Anyone of these sites would have been a wonderful selection. However, as we reviewed the pluses and minus of each site, it was felt that there was unfinished business in Covington. So volunteers, get ready to enjoy some more Creole cooking and Cajun music, 'cause were heading back to Covington! Covington is located 35 miles north of New Orleans. The dates for the build are Friday, June 20th 2008 through Saturday, June 28th 2008, with a pre-build day on Thursday, June 19th. Dedication is scheduled for Saturday, June 28th. More can be found on the Covington page of the BHB Web Site, http://www.blitzhomebuilders.org/builds/Covington08, this will be where updates, news, and registration information will be posted so please check the website often. Registration for the build will be open in early January, but mark the build dates on your calendar now. Please log in to the BHB website to update your contact information.
